Something caused the social sign-on links to stop working, popup opens when closed nothing happens

We have done a big site update so we thing this is probably something we have done but the code is identical to the old code that was working. The icons appear as expected and when you click on one of them the relevant popup opens and closes (if you have already authorised) or prompts you to signin etc. before closing. Once closed nothing happens. It has worked a few isolated times - with no changes but 90% + it doesn't.

Any suggestions? are you coincidentally having problems?

We aren't getting a hit to the callback on our server.

how can I debug the stage that fails?

Was entirely our issue - we were returning false in the on_login_redirect event!
