email states social login is not setup correctly

edited March 2016 in Questions
Hi, i have recieved an email from oneall stating the following:

Configuration error: Social Login is not properly configured for Facebook

Hi Steve,

please take a few minutes to setup your Social Login Plugin for Facebook.

A new user tried to comment, login or register with Facebook on your
site. This user could however not participate as your Site 'XXXXXX'
is not properly configured for Facebook.

Please login as soon as possible into your account to fix this issue.
It only takes a couple of minutes and will allow future users to take part
in your website.

Please use the following link to setup Facebook:
https://app.oneall.com/applications/application/providers/provider/setup/XXXXXXXXXX XXXX = app id

Or alternatively:
- Login to your OneAll account: https://app.oneall.com/signin/
- Click on 'Social Networks' in the Site Quick Links
- Click on Facebook
- Click on Setup 'XXXXXX' for Facebook

I have been through the setup a number of times and all seems ok. Privacy policy is also in place and almost 700 users are using it fine. Is this email just generated on a report from a user or is it an actual problem i need to fix? should i worry or ignore it ?

    Hi,
Normally, this means that a user failed to login with his Facebook account.
And yes, you should look into it.

Do you have any Facebook registered users already? (then the email is sent in error)

    Thanks.

    Hi Steve,

Facebook has sometimes very short (less than a minute) outages of their API. If a login occurs during such a period, then you might receive the error message. Could you try to login with Facebook now? If everything works fine, then you can ignore the error mail.

Hi guys i am just posting my finding based on feedback from my users. I still get these emails although they are rare now. It seemed to be an issue with the basic browser on older samsung phones. I have advised my users who are using older phones to use chrome or another browser of their liking.

  • Sorry for the very late response, i have been working solid night shifts.

I have over 1,000 users registered and using the site just fine. I have had no less than 5 of these emails now. I am sure its just due to outages of the facebook API.

Thanks for your responses guys it is appreciated
