Cannot retrieve email from Twitter?

I created a connection to Twitter and upon testing, it said "Cannot retrieve email from Twitter, please enter it". It did pull my Twitter handle and url but why would it not pull the email? Is this a limitation of the service?

Hi Robert,

Per default Twitter does not provide an email.

To retrieve the email address for Twitter users you need to ask Twitter to get access to it:
https://support.twitter.com/forms/platform

Please select "I need access to special permissions” and then explain that you want to retrieve the email address.
Once Twitter has granted the permission the email address will automatically be retrieved by our services.
