Mailchimp integration: what is it exactly doing?

edited January 2017 in Questions
Hi, I cannot test the mailchimp intergration with a free account, and I wonder what it exactly does.

I understand it collects mail addresses, and saves it to my Mailchimp list. I guess it gets these addresses from the social profile information, when available.
> is there a consent by the user (does the user agrees that I can send e-mails)? If not, am I correct that it would be recommended to save these mail addresses into a separate list to use to send out opt-in invites.
> is it also collecting e-mail addresses from user profiles that are using the loudvoice comments?

    Hi Peter,

technically speaking we will push the email address of any user that connects using a Social Network account to the Mailchimp user list that you can setup in the Mailchimp settings (this also includes LoudVoice users).

There is no explicit consent by the user to receive mails, so you should ask them for opt-in first.
