Do online promos and discounts actually save money in the long run?

I've been wondering about something lately when I shop online: do all those promo codes and discounts really save me money or are they just a trick to get me to buy more? It seems like every site I visit throws pop-ups at me with special offers, but then I end up adding things to my cart that I didn't even need in the first place. Does anyone have any tips for navigating the world of online deals without overspending? I’m starting to suspect it’s all a big marketing ploy.

  • Something I have noticed is how these discounts often create a sense of urgency. They'll say "Offer ends in 24 hours!" or "Limited stock available!" This makes you feel like you need to make a decision quickly, which can lead to impulsive purchases. It's like they're preying on our fear of missing out. It's a clever tactic, but definitely makes you think twice about whether you're really getting a good deal or just being manipulated.

  • That’s a great question, and something I’ve been thinking about as well. It may be just the way my brain works, but I only end up saving money if I already know what I need and have a set budget for it. I was recently looking for a fitness supplements store online this website. Even though I saved 10%, I ended up buying an extra protein powder I didn’t really need just to qualify for free shipping, which totally negated the savings. So, for me, sticking to a list is key.
