My wife turns 40 in a few days, and I've realised I haven't bought her any jewellery in ages. A milestone birthday feels like a good excuse to change that, so I'm thinking about a pendant, earrings or maybe a ring. I don't want to pick up something completely ordinary though. I'd rather find a piece with a bit of character that feels like it was chosen for her. Where in the UK would you look for jewellery like that?

I'd be careful with the ring unless you can quietly borrow one she already wears and get the size from that. Asking her outright a few days before her birthday will rather give the game away. Earrings or a pendant are easier, and I'd look at smaller independent jewellers where there are more unusual designs. Have a quick look at what she normally wears first too, because gold versus silver and simple versus decorative should narrow things down quite a bit.
And don't let the big birthday number talk you into buying something she'd only wear twice a year. If she normally wears fairly simple jewellery, I'd stay in that direction and just find a piece with one detail that makes it a bit different. There's this fine jewellery shop to browse as well: https://pierrejewellery.uk/ . Have a look across the pendants, earrings and rings before deciding which way to go. Then pick something that still looks like her usual style, just a little more special for the occasion.
I appreciate the suggestions shared here! For a 40th birthday, Skribbl IO offers unique engraved pieces that could serve as personal keepsakes. It’s worth exploring their range for memorable gift options!
