Instagram Login 'Sandbox' error

edited March 2016 in Social Login
Hi,

We are trying to use the instagram login on a Wordpress site, and followed the steps of creating a client and filling in the information as stated in the oneall plugin.

The issue is the client is in 'sandbox' mode in instagram, and when we try to log in with the widget, we get this message: {"code": 403, "error_type": "OAuthForbiddenException", "error_message": "You are not a sandbox user of this client"}

We tried submitting the client for review with instagram, but since we arent creating the app, simply using the plugin, we got declined and received this message:

Invalid Use Case: The use case described in your submission notes, screencast and website is not a valid use case. If you are installing a widget for your website, then you do not need to submit for review. Some widgets may ask you to create a new client ID, but you do not need to submit it for review for the widget to work. You can remain in sandbox mode and the widget will have access to your last 20 media. If you are the developer of a widget and you want to use one client ID for all your users, please resubmit for review and show proof of how your users will authenticate your widget. For more information, please see: https://www.instagram.com/developer/review/

Any Ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

  • Hi,
    If you want to test the website, then defining a user for the sandboxed app should work.

    So presumably, you now would like to go live with your website, and need your Instagram app to be publicly available. In this case you are the author of the app (the instagram app), and should get approval (cf "but since we arent creating the app").
    Maybe Instagram needs a description of the authentication process? That could be cumbersome.
    Some of the material from our website could help (section "Improve the callback script" of docs.oneall.com/services/implementation-guide/social-login/).
    Also, you could reference the Wordpress plugin description.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Scott,

    I think that you should re-try the Instagram submission, clearly explain that you want users to be able to login with Instagram, and add a link to your login form to the submission.

    Regards,

Welcome!
