I just gave it a try and connected with Google. It has created a new account for me and in my profile I can see that my myBB account is linked to my Google account. As far as I can see it works correctly.

it’s in fact an automatic email send whenever the login with Facebook (or another social network) fails.
If the logins works correctly during your tests, then it was probably only a temporary issue.

It only happens if you have enabled the strict mode for MySQL.
